THE V NATIONAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION ON INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW

Hello everyone! ⚡️

⚖️ Have you missed the traditional court competitions from ELSA Kharkiv? We are sure you have, and that's why we have some exciting news for you 🤩

The long-awaited registration for the V National Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law is now open!🕊

The court competition consists of two stages - written and oral.

📝During the written stage, participants will prepare memorandum , in which they will substantiate the position of the prosecution and defense based on a previously published case.

During the oral stage, participants will engage in real court debates, showcasing their knowledge and eloquence to successfully represent their side's position.

🎓The competition is open to teams of 2-3 participants comprising students and cadets in their 1st-6th year of study in Ukrainian universities, pursuing degrees in "Law", "International Law", "Law Enforcement", as well as young lawyers (who received their latest law degree no more than 5 years ago).

🖍The working language of the competition is Ukrainian.

🖥The format is online.

📅The oral rounds will take place on April 13-14, 2024.

📜Registration deadline: February 25, 2024, 23:59.

LEGAL ENGLISH COURSE

Have you ever thought about the importance of English in the work of a lawyer?🧐

We at ELSA are sure that knowledge of legal English is a must-have for a modern lawyer, so we are pleased to present to you our new event in partnership with the  the Higher School of the Advocacy of Ukrainian National Bar Association - Legal English Course 🇬🇧

What to expect:

🔷 5 thematic modules

🔶 3 hours of English per week, namely 2 lectures and 1 practical lesson

🔷 classes will be conducted by true professionals in their field - employees of the Center for Legal Linguistics of the Higher School of the Advocacy of Ukrainian National Bar Association

  • ⏰ Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 17:00

📍All funds collected at the expense of participants' organizational contributions will be transferred to the aid of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - СF "Second Front"🙌🏻

Have you missed our events? Then we are pleased to announce that the traditional LEGAL COURSE on WTO LAW, which is held jointly with Sergii Koziakov & Partners, will take place very soon 🤩

We know that among you there are those who have repeatedly participated in this project. Therefore, the course is back and this year it will be even bigger 🚀

🔎 For those who are new to the course: the online introductory course on the law of the World Trade Organisation is an all-Ukrainian event consisting of a series of lectures to provide basic knowledge of WTO law.

🗣️ The speakers of the course will be leading experts in international trade law and representatives of the World Trade Organisation.

XXXIХ National Council Meeting of ELSA Ukraine

Dear Network 💙

The end of 2023 was really full of projects and meetings 🤌🏻 However, one of the brightest events was the XXXIX National Council Meeting of ELSA Ukraine 🤩 The NCM was held in Ternopil and gathered more than 100 participants from all over Ukraine 🔥

What was Congress working on? First of all, amendments have been made to the Decision Book. Of course, there was reporting, training and discussion of life issues of the Network 👩🏼‍💻🧑🏻‍💻

An important event was the acquisition of Local Group status by two Observer group – ELSA Lutsk and ELSA Ternopil. We are proud of you. Further – more 🫂 We also congratulate ELSA Ostroh and ELSA Ivano-Frankivsk on acquiring the status of Observer Group. You are well done 👏🏻 T

hank you to each participant of the NCM for your activity! We are incredibly happy to see how our Network is developing and therefore every meeting with you is here forever 💙 We also express our incredible gratitude to the hosts of our XXXIX NCM – ELSA Ternopil. I National Corporate Law Debates

A legal debate is an event that involves simulating a discussion on a specific subject of corporate law, in which two teams representing two opposing positions, "For" and "Against," participate.

ELSA Ukraine delegation attended the LXXXIV International Council Meeting in Tbilisi

From the 15th to the 19th of November, ELSA Ukraine delegation attended the LXXXIV International Council Meeting in Tbilisi 💼💙

Plenary sessions are always special for us, because every year we strive to represent our country at the most important event for the whole Network – ICM ✍🏻

After meeting with ELSA people, discussing statutory changes and participating in workshops, we came back home aspiring to inspire our Officers and with the clear vision of how “to make ELSA great again" 🫰🏻😎

We would like to thank our Alumni for their help and facilitation for the participating delegates in the Congress 👏🏻

Besides, we express our sincere gratitude to ELSA Georgia for the hospitality and all the work you have done during the organization of ICM. The true Georgian spirit was everywhere 🥹

We also want thank each and every delegation for these incredible days full of hard work and cooperation. We look forward to seeing you soon again

Essay competition on the topic "Fighting corruption under martial law"

- The essay competition on "Fighting Corruption under Martial Law" is a national event organised by the local groups of ELSA Kyiv, ELSA Ternopil and ELSA Lutsk, which is held to develop legal education among students and young lawyers, develop a doctrinal study of the problem of anti-corruption activities, and encourage participants to improve their professional skills. The relevance of the topic is substantiated by the current martial law in Ukraine and the peculiarities of the fight against corruption caused by it.

Series of workshops “Skills of a lawyer”

The event is held in the format of a series of workshops by speakers-practicing lawyers and HR of law firms or international organizations.

Three blocks of issues are planned for consideration at the event:

1) business correspondence and document drafting skills

2) what IT skills should every lawyer develop?

3) the basics of public speaking - how to deal with nervousness during a public speech and master the audience's attention?

In December, on the basis of the Faculty of Law, a brain-ring on The History of the state and the law of foreign countries will be held for first-year students.

The main task of the brain-ring is to conduct a survey of students of different teams on topics related to the subjects of studying The History of the state and the law of foreign countries.
