Cinema night with ELSA Chernivtsi, watching the film “Just Mercy”
Apart from our dedicated efforts in professional and academ events, ELSA Chernivtsi places a strong emphasis on fostering communication and engagement among its members. A recent example of this commitment was manifested through a Film Night held on November 27, 2023.
The primary objective of this initiative was to strengthen the bonds among our local chapter members, fostering meaningful connections and cultivating a sense of community. The event aimed to facilitate in-person interactions and provide an enjoyable shared experience. We organised a viewing of the film "Just Mercy", and it not only served as a relaxing and entertaining occasion but also inspired new ideas among our members.
Encouraged by the success of this event, we are enthusiastic about planning and executing diverse activities for our members in the future. In future, we strive to organise many more internal events of different formats for our memebers!

Bilateral Study Visit between ELSA Chernivtsi and ELSA Suceava
16th May - 18th May (2025)
Offline
The first part of the Study Visit took place on 16–18 May 2025. The event, organized by ELSA Chernivtsi with the support of the Faculty of Law of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, became the first international offline event since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The Study Visit began with an official ceremony at Chernivtsi National University, where representatives of the university administration warmly welcomed the guests. Participants attended lectures on current issues of international criminal law delivered by Dr. Vitalii Yaremchuk and practicing lawyer Ruslan Ivanyuk. The program also included an institutional visit to the Main Department of the National Police in Chernivtsi region, where participants learned about the work of the KORD special unit and the Canine Service, observing impressive demonstrations of their professional skills.
The second day of the study visit was marked by the arrival of Professor Mihai Dimian, Rector of “Ștefan cel Mare” University of Suceava, who expressed sincere support for Ukrainian academic partners and the entire Ukrainian people. On this day, Dr. Maryna Ilika delivered a lecture on “The Role of the International Criminal Court in Ensuring Justice,” followed by a meeting with Vitalina Savchuk, private notary of the Chernivtsi City Notarial District, who shared insights into notarial practice in Ukraine. The day concluded with a public speaking training session led by Pavlina Shats.
The final day focused on practical activities — participants took part in a legal quest, a brain ring competition, and a workshop conducted by Assoc. Prof. Ivan Toronchuk and Florian Gheorghe, lawyer and representative of the Faculty of Law and Administrative Sciences of Suceava University.
The event provided participants with valuable academic and practical experience, strengthened cooperation between ELSA Chernivtsi and ELSA Suceava, and became a great example of meaningful international exchange.
